'Roid Week 2008 Collage

This is a collage of all my polaroid photos I took for the Flickr group 'Roid Week 08.

Free Krispy Kreme Doughnut on Election Day if Wearing "I Voted" Sticker

Copied and Pasted from an email I received:

"On Election Day, Nov. 4, 2008, participating Krispy Kreme stores will be offering a free star-shaped doughnut, with white icing and red, white and blue sprinkles, to each customer wearing an "I Voted" sticker. While voters may not always agree on the best candidate to win, each voter can agree on one thing: Celebrating one of America’s most coveted constitutional rights can be oh-so sweet.

The star-shaped treats are made from Krispy Kreme’s signature, yeast-raised dough, and will be available only on Nov. 4th. This promotion is good for one doughnut per customer. Select stores may offer yeast-raised doughnuts in the standard circle shape, but still decorated with white icing and red, white and blue sprinkles.

Please call your local Krispy Kreme store now to find out if they are participating."

I don't know how/if absentee ballot voters get one :(

P.S. If you would like to receive emails notifying you of such important events, sign up to be a "Friends of Krispy Kreme" here: http://krispykreme.qm4.net/members/UpdateProfile.aspx?Action=Subscribe

Can’t Make it to the Polls? Request Absentee Ballot by Nov. 1

As a registered voter, you may obtain an absentee ballot if you are over age 60, unable to attend the polls for physical or religious reasons or expecting to be out of town. Voters who wish to receive their absentee ballot by mail have until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 to submit their absentee ballot application to their city of township clerk.

Voter turnout is expected to be high for the November 4th election. Last week, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land said that a record number of Michigan residents – 7.47 million -– have registered to vote, representing nearly 98 percent of the voting age population. Voters will be asked to present photo ID at the polls, such as a Michigan driver's license or identification card. Visit the Michigan Voter Information Center at www.Michigan.gov/vote for information on absentee ballots and Michigan's voter identification law.

Election Day is Coming - Next Tuesday - Don't Forget to Vote!

I personally felt the need for change so strongly that I persuaded my Mother-In-Law to register to vote. She's 70 years old and had never registered before. She always follows politics and usually has a strong opinion...but she never voted.

So I told her that if she feels so strongly against one candidate that she should vote...or otherwise her opinion doesn't matter. She can't complain if she doesn't do something about it.

I feel good about it...and I'm proud of her:)

Check out your Michigan ballots at MiVote:

Put in your name as it appears on your voter registration card; then your city, a screen will pop up with links - one will be to preview your local precinct's ballot.

I Don't Have to Worry Anymore About Making Mr Blackwell's Worst Dressed List

According to this article in the New York Times, he died. He was 86 years old. He will be missed...by some folks anyway...here's the link:
